Link Celestial Navigation Trainer Operator (970) Enlisted Personnel
Operates base controls of link celestial navigation training equipment used to train flying personnel in celestial navigation.
Follows track of flight-recorder across chart and coordinates movement of celestial dome with latitude and longitude of simulated aircraft. Transmits signals to fuselage of trainer to simulate transmissions from two radio stations, ranges, and beacons. Operates equipment which projects image of terrain on terrain screen which is viewed by personnel of the training flight. Controls appearance and motion of stars and clouds which are seen in dome of trainer. Maintains interphone communication with instructor in fuselage. Performs minor repairs and adjustments on trainer.
Must be familiar with dead reckoning, radio aids, and the elements of celestial navigation.
