Casemate Electrician (579) Enlisted Personnel

Operates and maintains electrical equipment of a mine casemate system for control of submarine mines used for protection of coastal waters and harbor areas.
Adjusts relays and rotary switches by making proper measurements and operational tests for parts. Manually adjusts parts to comply with specifications. Tests firing devices by controlled electrical operation to determine if operation is in order. Hooks up power panel, distribution panel, group panel, and selector box. Operates this equipment and determines by means of signal lights and readings of meters if it is functioning properly.
Equipment used includes filler gauges, M-2 test sets, Weston analyzers, bridge meggers, firing device test frames, pliers, and screw drivers.
