Radar Observer, Bombardment (Designated Set) (0142) Officer or Warrant Officer
Operates, adjusts, and performs flight maintenance on designated radar equipment such as H2X and associated equipment. Determines position of airplane with respect to predetermined ground location by means of radar for the accurate placing of bombs on the target through overcast; interprets the radar scope presentation obtaining accurate information for fixes, altitude, air plots, winds, ground speeds, and track and transmits this information the Pilot, Navigator and Bombardier.
Must be familiar with the employment of bombsight equipment and the principles of DR navigation.
Completion of AAF technical school prescribed course for radar observer, bombardment or equivalent military training essential. Must be physically qualified for combat flight duty under the provisions of AAF Regulation 50-7.
