Today, we are delighted to welcome you to the new Strictly GI website! We hope that you will find the website both useful and informative in your search to learn more about the American GI during World War II, as well as the living history hobby in general. While our website showcases the work we do, its main purpose is to serve as a repository of information to help honour and remember the thousands of members of the "Greatest Generation".
Unlike our previous websites, our new one has been built completely bespoke, to our very specific requirements to best deliver our content in a useful and logical manner. We hope that its content will serve as an invaluable resource to readers, fellow living historians and researchers alike. We're pleased to be able to offer an extensive collection of articles written by our members as well as free, web-printable reproduction WWII paperwork.
The website also includes a unique WWII Image Archive. Our image archive allows readers to search by keywords and topics that are of special interest to the living historian. For example, all of the images have been painstakingly tagged with pertinent information (such as details of clothing and equipment, personnel names and units, etc.), so you simply need to search for a keyword to find a collection of related contemporary images. We have also made every effort to provide high resolution clear copies of images that appear therein.
As with any website of its kind, ours is very much a continuous work-in-progress, and we post regular updates and new content on a weekly basis. As such, we would like to invite you to bookmark the website, and follow us on Facebook for the latest website news and updates.
In case you spot any issues or errors on our website, or just have some general comments or queries, we look forward to hearing from you. You can reach out to us via our social media accounts, or using the Contact Us page on our site.
