Why RE-ENACTMENT ?

We are a group of military collectors dedicated to help promote the history of the United States Army in the E.T.O., during World War Two, by preserving the history and the heritage of the American G.I.. Our main goal is to promote greater public appreciation for the contribution made by the American Armies to the liberation of our countries Belgium and the Netherlands (E.T.O.), in World War Two.

We wish to respectfully portray the American G.I. of World War Two, by creating and maintaining high standards in vehicles, uniforms and equipment, and by bringing camp life, field and other activities as close as possible to wartime conditions !

Our Re-enactment activities are meant as a TRIBUTE to the American Soldier of World War II .

We try and educate the public by preserving the legacy of our Liberators, and pass it on by means of Living History i.e. Re-enactment !

Themes can vary and cover base camps as well as field activities, while periods represent WWII from 1942 to 1945, they encompass either the Normandy D-Day landings or the Battle of the Bulge scene . Since France is a neighboring country, traveling over there is no problem for us, and as far as the Ardennes are concerned, they are just located in our own backyard . Although some of our members 'specialize' in specific themes, our strength lies in often changing and adapting to other WWII E.T.O. impressions, i.e. we can field, Infantry, Corps of Engineers, Medical Department, Military Police, Signal Corps, Rangers, Paratroops, and our Army personnel range includes 'privates' as well as a 'three-star General'.

Of course, we only utilize genuine WWII items and/or 'correct' replica stuff, but, what we cannot find on the market is simply copied and/or reconstructed ! As such, we have not only manufactured or duplicated the necessary hardware, e.g. beach obstacles, pliofilm covers for weapons, paper gas detection sleeves, bangalore torpedoes, explosive packs and miscellaneous charges, but also various documents and smaller items such as K rations, cigarettes, matchbooks, invasion currency, mess tickets, emergency medical tags, etc. all this with the only aim to reach more authenticity ! Our member re-enactors are constantly educated and brought up-to-date with regard to restoring, painting and marking the vehicles as in WWII, wearing the correct uniforms & insignia, handling the related equipment the right way, and representing the American G.I. with the highest possible standards of authenticity !
This is the aim of « Strictly G.I. »

« STRICTLY-G.I.» & HISTORY

Why HISTORY ?

Researching data and facts about WWII has become another important activity of "Strictly G.I." . Of particular importance is meeting, interviewing and learning from the Veterans belonging to the "Greatest Generation" who helped us recover our precious Liberty ! We can listen to their personal Testimonies, and by visiting their Battlefields we can even learn more about history . Honoring the Heroes that forever rest in the American Cemeteries and Memorials in Europe is also part of our calendar ... It is our duty to remember and honor those who served in World War II - and what better method is there than to research the tragic history of this period and share our discoveries and knowledge with the current generations and those to come .. for we must NEVER forget !

COINCIDENCE ? what’s in a name !

… while researching data related to the US Army Air Forces in WWII, I incidentally stumbled across above newspaper, published and distributed by GIAAB (Grand Island, Army Air Base) Nebraska, ZI, home of the 6th Bomb Group (VH) . This unit already activated since September 1919 as the 3d Observation Group, was disbanded in the Panama Canal Zone in November 1943 . Reconstituted 29 June 1944 the new unit moved to Grand Island 18 November 1944 for training (B-17 & B-29 bombers) – and was later transferred to the Pacific area as part of the 313th Bomb Wing, 20th Air Force, with base on the island of Tinian – the 6th Bomb Group (VH) flew B-29 missions in the Pacific and over Japan from 3 February up to 14 August 1945 and was credited with 6 Distinguished Unit Citations …

I continued digging, and noticed I had a similar newspaper in my personal collection, which is illustrated further down this page …
